The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation that has been dedicated to celebrating and advocating for the transformational power of stories since 1945. They lead a number of wonderful initiatives, but they are noted for running Children’s Book Week® along with Australia’s most influential and respected children’s literature award — the CBCA Book of the Year Awards in August.

Each year, a theme is selected to promote reading culture, with an artist appointed to bring this theme to life visually across educational resources and merchandise. ‘Reading is Magic’ is the theme for 2024, and coincidentally, the winning artist was former Erstwilder illustrator Jess Racklyeft!

For this exclusive partnership, we’ve been given the honour of transforming Jess’ wonderful illustration into wearable art, coming together with CBCA to release an exclusive ‘Reading is Magic Brooch’.
